Clay Aiken: Coattails and Prop 8

So Adam says Clay Aiken needs his coattails huh. All I see is a tattered pink dress and some fishnet stockings.

Clay's comments on Prop 8 were lifted from his private fan club message board and there ain't no coattails there either. You can read his thoughts in their entirety on CANN.

Clay Aiken: Movin' On

Remember the Jaded Journalist inteviews Clay Aiken did when on Season 2. He was quick witted, snarky, funny, intelligent, had a sharp tongue and when he spoke, he spoke his mind. Quite a few of his fans love his personality as much as they love his singing. Some don't. He's pretty much kept quiet while he was under contract but now, six years later Clay is finally free to say what he thinks.

Clay started a Question & Answer thread on his fan club message board and responded to a question about AI, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and the current finale. Since his answer was made public you can read the unedited version at CANN. Evidently there is one "fan" who does not respect the terms that state what is said at the fan club stays at the fan club. Shame on her and her lack of respect for the other fan club members.

Two comments from CANN that I want to highlight:

"Wow! When Clay Aiken talks, everyone listens!!!"

"Isn’t it amazing how Clay saying he was glad Kris Allen won was twisted and spun into reporting Clay said he was glad Adam lost. So many have proved they don’t comprehend what they read."

Remember the Clay buzz after the AI5 finale? Once again Clay is tied into AI and usurping their coverage. I'm alternating between laughing my ass off and saying Oh shit, now what.

Update:

Adam Lambert's Ring of Fire

Clay Aiken News Network hits a nerve

Yesterday's article on CANN, Ethical Standards on the Web addressed the problem of journalists, bloggers and tabloid reporters who embellish and twist factual information with inaccurate opinions in their reporting or even worse, fabricate entire stories.

For the past six years Clay Aiken's fans have seen this type of yellow journalism more times than we can count. Clay Aiken is only one of many celebrities that this is done to but as a fan, Clay is the one I'm most familiar with. In order to not spread the sensationalistic story further I won't repeat the details but a simple reported Twitter sighting of Clay Aiken and his baby son became fodder for tabloids and bloggers. This is yellow journalism at it's finest.

Don't know what yellow journalism is? Wikipedia has an excellent article that will explain what it is and how it came to be called yellow journalism. It is a type of journalism that downplays legitimate news in favor of eye-catching headlines that sell more newspapers or create more hits on web sites. It may feature exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, sensationalism, or unprofessional practices by news media and some bloggers.
