Clay Aiken "Let America Decide"

When Clay Aiken auditioned in Atlanta he answered Simon Cowell's "Now what" question with "Let America decide." And America did. America chose Clay above all the other Wild Card night contestants. Here's Clay's performance of Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me from that night.

Three years later, Clay performed the same song on the AI5 finale'. A very grown up Clay walked out on stage and blew away his impersonator, Michael Sandecki. Ryan Seacrest never introduced Clay by name - it wasn't necessary. Although Clay looked nothing like Sandecki, everyone knew it was Clay. One of those great TV moments that will go down in history.

I get the biggest grin on my face when I see that AI5 finale clip! Did he ever shock the crap out of AI and their plans to make him look bad!

Wonderful performances by Clay Aiken of Elton Hohn's "don't let the sun go down on me" No one sings it better than Clay!

Even many EJ fans commented that Clay sang a great version of the song. I was so happy to see his comeback during the wildcard night. Imagine what we would have lost if they hadn't had a wildcard that season. It would have been just another contest.

Both of those performances were amazing. Nobody even comes close to performing like Clay.

I'm not a big fan of AI, but thank you to them for giving us Clay Aiken.

I still don't understand why AI keeps giving "Clay" songs to other contestants knowing full well no one else can sing them the way Clay does. Especially DLTSGDOM-that was Clay's claim to fame TWICE!! First during the WC (which was cooked up JUST to get Clay back on the show-the producers must have been shaking their collective heads when the judges chose Ruben and Kim over Clay!!!!)and then when Clay shocked the world during the AI5 finale.
Not only did 'America' vote him back to AI but 'America' gave him 80 percent of the vote every single week he was on INCLUDING THE FINALE OF AI2. There was never a 'competition' once Clay was back on AI2.

Clay provided so many exciting moments every time he took the stage. America decided who should win AI the moment they voted to bring Clay back as a Wild Card. And he won the majority of America's votes every week. He may not have officially gotten the "made-up-for-TV-title" but he certainly won the heart of America!

That was an awesome TV moment. Actually, he's had quite a few amazing moments!

America did decide. Unfortunately, their voices were silenced by dishonest producers rigging phone lines. How else does a contestant ahead in votes every week end up losing at the end.

Truth,

Great blog about American Idol's Wildcard Show!

Clay Aiken's performance of DLTSGDOM deservedly earned him America's nod to continue in the AI2 competition. The AI5 performance verified it in spades.

I included a link to your blog in mine. Have a super weekend!
