Clay Aiken - E!'s True Hollywood Story

E! left one thing out of their True Hollywood Story on Clay Aiken. His voice. They mentioned it a few times but the focus was more on his rise to fame. Talking about his voice without any audio was disappointing to this viewer .

What they didn't tell you was how his last album, On My Way Here, is so different than his previous albums. This is the album where Clay had creative control and it's a better reflection of who he is as an artist. They also didn't mention the one song on the album that Clay wrote to music written by David Foster and how haunting this song is. When he sang this song during last years summer tour the audiences were so quiet while he sang you could hear a pin drop and then erupted into thunderous applause.

Here are a couple of of my favorites from On My Way Here. Actually, there are so many songs on this album that I love it's hard to pick a favorite.

Everything I Don't Need

Where I Draw the Line

Something About Us

Lover All Alone

Clay Aiken has a voice like no other. He is an original. When you hear him you KNOW FOR A FACT that it's him - period.

His range, tone, intonation - the whole nine yards.

I have a horrible time choosing a favorite off OMWH and I'm so looking forward to hearing them in concert (hint hint)

Thank you for this blog!!!

That is so true. His voice is what drew me to him. He has spoiled me from listening to any other artist.

Great blog and I love the videos!

They said he wasn't the best singer in the world. I don't know who is if he isn't. His voice goes right to my soul.

Excellent blog, Truth!

Suereu, I so agree. Blindfold me and play Clay singing anything -- "Stardust", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", the "Alphabet Song", even "Inna Gadda Da Vida" (yes, I'm a child of the '60s) -- the voice is unmistakable. There's NO ONE like him. We're so fortunate he's chosen to share his vocal gift with us! Maybe he'll be inspired to write again soon, as well. Imagine a tour of all new songs -- all penned by Clay Aiken! Lawd, have mercy...*fans self*

Truth,

You are so right. There is no voice on the planet like Clay's. We came for the voice and stayed for the man.

I love your featured OMWH songs.

Thnx for a great blog!

They did say that Clay Aiken has the voice of an angel - and that is so true.

His voice is unmistakable and I never, ever tire of hearing his songs. One of his CD's is ALWAYS in my car CD player and is the only voice I hear when I drive around town.

So true! His voice is amazing one of the few that can stop me in my tracks with whatever I'm doing and make me stop and listen to the beauty and power or the beauty and emotion

I love those videos I have been stopped in my tracks many times in a store when I hear one of his songs begin . It takes only a few notes and I know instantly who it is . I stand there with a goofy smile on my face for the entire song . Shopping can always wait while I enjoy the vox .

Even 5 years after he burst onto the national scene, Clay Aiken's voice continues to astonish and thrill me. His voice is so very beautiful, and you know what the great poet John Keats wrote: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." May Clay always continue to sing for us! ---VoxAngelicus---

Truth is - for me - that I can NOT play any of my Clay CDs when I'm at work. Anyone else, I'm fine - but when I put a Clay CD on, I am so drawn to his voice that I can't concentrate on a bit of the work I am supposed to be doing. I end up sitting over my computer, with a dreamy look on my face and don't get a thing done. It's been like this for almost 6 years! :)
