Details, details, details

....it's all in the details and how a story gets spun. I wasn't at the Baltimore meet up that's been written about by Bart Blasengame in Details magazine. However, I'm reading a story with three different versions. Version one from the Clay Aiken fans that were there, version two from Mr. Blasengame and version three from those who love to put a negative spin on anything Clay.

This email from a Clay Aiken fan who was in Baltimore at the meeting with Bart Blasengame was just too good to get buried in the comments section.

"For those of you who weren't at the Meetup, it was a lot of fun! Bart was great, young, tall, cute, even helped us clean up! There was a female photographer named Rebecca (and her assistant) who was really great and she took pictures constantly throughout the Meetup. We had a table set up with all kinds of Clay stuff, autographed items, Clay bears, scrapbooks, etc. and a great dessert table featuring Krispy Kremes with a photo of Clay stuck on each one (thanks to Angel!) Bart talked to quite a few people and we insisted that he watch some JBT Clack. When we told him he had to watch Clay singing WDC he looked very surprised and said, "Clay Aiken sings WDC???!!!" Yep!!! And does he ever sing it!!! He took notes! (actually he took a ton of notes all through the Meetup) I had a lengthy agenda which included a lot about Penny Lane, Special Olympics, UNICEF, and other things that the group is involved in or hopes to be soon. I think we all did Clay proud and showed Bart that Clay fans are not "rabid" but are loving, caring people who are looking to do good in the world just as Clay is AND that we love Clay to bits!!!"

There's a lesson here. Don't ever trust a journalist. These ladies thought they were showing support for Clay Aiken and are quite upset that the spin put on the printed article makes what they saw as a positive and fun encounter negative and insulting.
This quote posted by one fan seems so appropriate. "Every flower that ever bloomed had to go through a whole lot of dirt to get there."

So what about version 3, the version being spun by the Clay Aiken haters? Well, since this is my blog I'm exercising my right to be biased and not repeat any of it.
Update - 5/31/06: The Detroit Free Press put their own spin on the Details article by leaving out three words - "In popular imagination".
My rule for what I get upset about is will it matter 10 years from now. Of course the answer is no - 10 years from now this current crop of haters will be gone, Clay Aiken will still be a superstar, will still have a huge, loyal fan base and will still be making a difference in the real world.

The haters will say whatever they want to continue their agenda. There is nothing we can do to change their minds because they live to hate. It's a sad commentary on their lives as a whole, I think.

There is nothing Clay can do to stop their hate...all we can do, as fans, is to ignore them and support Clay.

That's all that matters.

Fortunately, the haters are a small minority...very small. Remember the kids at Middlesex School, who said when Clay arrived the "screams" were so loud it sounded like a rock concert? And last Wed. night, Michael said he thought the "screams" were for him? Two entirely different venues; yet Clay's popularity and recognition as the "most loved" Reality TV star is still evident.

Because the haters, in actuality, are such a small minority, it's so very important, IMO, to not get sucked into their schemes to advance their cause in anyway or to give them recognition. They dangle carrots, they bait with innuendo of upcoming "surprises," they suggest secrets that will soon be revealed or the next shoe to drop; anything to keep us hanging on. In their obsession, they do exactly the same thing they accuse the fans of doing. Here's an example from JP's blog:

Sue said - (referring to the fan boards)

"...if I or another person even brings up anything that they don't want to hear in regards to Clay then they are all over you, yelling and screaming. So, really, you can't even give your opinion if it differs from theirs in any way.

John said:

Sue, I agree with you and that is unfortunate and sad. I hope that this blog has given an outlet for others to come on here and comment on past and present news about Clay without fear of being banned or ridiculed."

Just try it! Try to use JP's blog as a place to report news about Clay (unless it's negative) and watch the haters go into melt down with their insults and ridicule, not only of the message, but the messenger. Neither fair nor honest, they twist and spin every good thing to make it seem evil or sinister; Clay wore too much makeup, had on lipstick, been in the tanning booth, wore a wig, sang off key, etc. And they call us hypocrites.

Ah...this blog and others like it let us say what we want without being ridiculed, screamed at, shouted down or called vile names. The haters may be few in numbers but they sure do make a lot of noise.

Speaking of noise, someone that was at the AI5 finale said that on the televised version they turned down the volume on the applause Clay received. It was so loud in the theater they could hardly hear him sing.

Polly, totally agree with the waiting for the next shoe to drop....that is their MO. It's like the tough guy who draws a line in the sand and, when the person they threaten steps over it, they back up, draw another line and say, "oh, well, step over this line. They are cowards.

So what if he was in the tanning bed? I lay in a tanning bed and I can GUARANTEE you that the purplepecker has spent a considerable amount of time in one...but, just the chance that Clay did it makes is somehow wrong.

Whatever...they are freaking losers with no rational thought.

Another freaking stalker boy lie exposed. He said the mother emailed them to him.

Wow! I said I'd never blog here. But I can't let this one go by without a comment. Of course, I'm number 300 and some, so no one may even see this. . . .

Imagine my surprise when I came here today to check out the latest entry and as I scanned down the page I saw the faces of two little girls that I have met on several ocassions! These are the daughters of one of my best friends. A woman who is kind and generous and who will do anything for a person in need. She has adopted these two girls from China - she and her family have so much love to give!

When I called her and told her where I saw their photo, she was horrified. Simply horrified.

John, you can think and say anything you want to about Clay or his fans. I even find some humor in the things you write. But, their mother never sent you this photo and you do not have permission to use it. Please do not use innocent children in your blog to make a point. As a former member of the military, I know you served to protect people - especially the innocent. Please, take their photo off your site.

Thank you.

I heard about the pictures being posted. That is so low and so cheap. Why would we expect anything else from that scumbag?

Why are the photos being used? I refuse to let that jackass lure me back over there.

He truly is the lowest form of life I have ever experienced.

Stalker boy said the mother emailed them to him to show that young children were being groomed to become part of the army that the Detail article talked about.

I really don't want to go into more detail than that but to use innocent children in this manner on a blog that sells gay porn is perverted and disgusting.

May 30, 2006 10:39 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

The pics of the children were posted to prove that Clayzies are training (brainwashing) their children to grow up into the Army of Clay.

His justification for doing so is because the "unfit" mother posted them herself on the Internet. He refused to remove them, but did blacken their faces and the names on their shirts out for a short time, but then later changed them back to the way he posted them originally.

He claims he's had his hair dyed blonde and had another Botox treatment.

The latest blog and discussion is about the Spin mag article.

What's he trying to do, disguise himself so he can go get a freakin' loaf of bread?

Bwhahahahahahhahahahahahahaa!

He truly has no morals. I do not get the Aiken army? So what if he has tons of fans who like him...isn't that the whole idea?

Their reasoning skills are so messed up, I can't even put words to it.

Apparently, he doesn't get that botoxing his forehead wrinkles won't make him young.

Good heavens, it would appear that they've pulled his forehead up so far already, I'm not sure he can blink anymore.

Scary stuff.

Botox, eh? Well he better watch out where they inject him because botox is a relaxants and I've heard some of his body parts (or at least one in particular) tends to be too relaxed already.

Maybe that's why he can't sleep. He can't close his eyes!

Unless...? You don't think he'd have the purple pecker Botoxed, do you?

As to the Aiken Army, that was the title of the Details article. He's trying to imply that it's some type of child abuse to force our children to be Clay fans against their will.

Blogger superdeluxewonderful said...

I work with kids every single day....there is NO forcing them to do something against their will!!!! j/k :)

You can tell when people (purplepeckerhead) don't know anything about kids.

They are the most honest, forthright, unbiased people on the planet. If they didnt like Clay, they would make sure their parents knew!!

PP realizes he is at the end of his rope. There just isn't anything he can do to shock and awe. He lost his momentum a long time ago...he will never get the response he wants from Clay or TC....it just isn't going to happen.

Unfortunately, his big ego (and that's all he has!) won't let him go away. He is a laughing stock and will continue to be one because he isn't quick enough to know it's time to quit.

Sad, sad person.

The Detroit Free Press quoting Details - Read this about Aiken's large female army: "The typical Claymate is a woman of considerable acreage who wears a muumuu, flips between QVC and the local Jesus channel, and cradles a bucket of KFC in one flabby arm."

Whoever the anonymous author of this article is, s/he left off the beginning of the sentence before typical- "In popular imagination".

Looks like this person failed reading comprehension...or deliberately wants to convey a false impression. Take your pick.

I am going out to LA sometime this month for a project that I have been working on. Who knows where that may lead me, but NC is where my family is and will have to be one of my homes.

Regarding the project in LA. Is it your book that you're working on?

Yes, and it is unrelated to Clay. In fact my speaking about my "relationship" with Clay actually harmed me.

Although they hide it very well, I think this has been a very unsettling week for JP and the Johnettes. After months of trying to convince us that Clay's career was over, Clay proved just the opposite last Wed night. I was just thinking that it's only been a week ago that Clay walked out on the stage of the Kodak Theater, head held high, looking like a million dollars, with nothing to hide or be ashamed of and said, "Here I am."

No honest person could deny the crowd's reaction to him and the media buzz that followed was priceless. What a great moment for the Clay Nation.

Blogger Truth Rules said...

Less that 120 seconds. That's how long Clay was on stage. Here we are, 7 days later and there is still buzz.

Surely not the reaction a certain group expected. They did get one thing right though. They were right to be scared of how high Clay would soar.

Speaking of Clarus, I went to his blog last night and I have to tell you, as the mother of 3 sons, I was almost horrified by what I read. This is a man who claims to be fair minded? He believes a story from someone he has never met, about someone else he has never met, and still doesn't know the other side of the story; yet he can see it clearly.

After his parent's divorced when he was very young, Clarus's mother never remarried and she devoted her life to raising him, since Clarus is her only child. He said they were very close, but he didn't come out to her until his mid-thirties (he claims because of her religious beliefs), and then he couldn't do it in person; he had to write her a letter which he handed to her before she boarded a plane! The disclosure has almost destroyed their relationship, for not only did he tell her he was gay, but he converted to another religion, which would be more tolerant of his lifestyle. It's now been 7 yrs and they barely speak. He says it's getting better because she now will mention his partner by name, but he seems oblivious to his mother's pain and disappointment, whether right or wrong, in not seeing her family grow or the joy of being a grandmother or that the son she devoted her entire life to has this selfish streak in him. Because from what I have observed in many cases, and with some men, that's exactly what homosexuality is...it's the most self-centered, self-gratifying and selfish lifestyle I've ever heard of. Some are still promiscuous even in commited relationships. Look at all the pain and hurt it causes...even breaking up families. And they can disregard all of that conflict and pain and believe "outing" of others is acceptable?

Clarus gives his reasons for believing JP's story by comparing JP's position with examples of those in very precarious situations where someone has allegedly commited a crime! (JP becomes nothing more than a whistle blower). His examples have nothing to do with JP's sorry-ass story that was only made public because of anger and pride. (There's no doubt in my mind JP wanted the world to know who he claimed to sleep with). But no crime was commited here and blinded by their hate, it becomes perfectly acceptable to hurt, smear, defame, malign another human being; yet they want us to believe what loving, caring and "Christian" people they are. It borders on blasphemy!

And now their hateful vendetta has turned to insulting, hurting and humiliating Clay's fans, who had nothing to do with this, other than a means to keep the story going. Isn't the pain and trauma of JP's story enough? If what they say is true and we, as fans, have been lied to, why must they continue to rub our noses in it on a daily basis? Did they expect to hurt us publicly with this breaking news story and not expect a reaction or that we wouldn't attempt to defend Clay? Are they stupid??? No, I think they counted on that. After all, Clay's fans are crazy, right?

Sorry about the "if," Truth. I hope you know there's no way I believe for one nanosecond that any part or parcel of this fairy's tale is true! I was indirectly speaking to Clarus.

I'm in a mood today, so bear with me.

I followed a link earlier today to another "gay" blog and have now reached the conclusion, without a doubt, that the gay guys are getting great entertainment over this alleged "scandal"...a sad commentary for their life, isn't it?

The blog happened to be about Chris, where the sly innuendo was made questioning Chris's sexuality and the blogger appeared to just sit back, laughing, and enjoyed the show and the "hits," as one after another irate person posted to voice their disdain for the comment, as well as the blogger, himself.

It is evident this is all a game to them. If we haven't noticed by now how they deliberately and dishonestly twist and spin every comment about Clay just to infuriate the fans and provoke a reaction from us, then I believe we're really dumb. But why shouldn't they believe that? Parts of the Clay Nation have fallen right into their trap, repeatedly.

I call on the Clay Nation once again to give it up! Leave the haters alone and let them be. Ignore them all! You cannot win this and Clay does not need defending. HE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG! Never was that more clearly apparent than last Wed. night when Clay walked out onto the stage of the Kodak Theater. (I know his high profile appearance, televised around the world, impressed my husband). Over the next few days, the buzz that followed is indictative of the impression he made.

If your curiosity is such that you must read their blogs to keep an eye on things, that's one thing. But do not engage these dishonest haters in a discussion of their sick lies...let them self-destruct. You see, this is nothing new. They've been at this for 3 yrs; only this time they struck a nerve and the Clay Nation awoke and went to war, which I think took everyone by surprise. But IMO, it's time to retreat and give it up and be thankful the Clay Nation is none the worse for the battle.

Hopefully, we'll have a blog this weekend or next week about the birth of Little "Q," just as we did last Oct. That's my prediction anyway.

Sorry for the rants, Truth. There's just no other place to say these things.

It was just the way that one sentence was worded that got me steaming and if I could edit comments I would have.

If the gay community thinks that hitting people over the head with a gay agenda is going to create acceptance they are making a huge mistake. Instead of generating sympathy for their cause they are creating animosity. I always believed in live and let live but this constant barrage of gay crap is turning me against their methods and making me hate what I'm hearing.

When they show so little respect for another human being why in God's name should they expect to be respected themselves.

You know, I don't think I would have ever felt that way if it hadn't been for the constant barrage of hate toward Clay. It just happens to be Clay, I would feel the same no matter who they were attacking...personally, it tells me they live very pitiful lives.

Between this crap and what the gals on a certain message board have been spewing for several years I'm with you. STFU and start showing some respect. They can start by not forcing their reality on Clay or anyone else.

Respect? Bwhahaahahahhaah...they have no clue what the word means, obviously.

Ya know, it's a bit like religion. My parents were staunch Catholic, we were raised staunch Catholic...of the 7 kids in my family, two still go to church.

I definitely have a live and let live attitude about most things, until my nose is rubbed in it for the "sake of the cause" then, I turn away and walk away.

Well, Truth, you said it all for me. I will NEVER donate another dime to AIDS Research or Awareness; my company will never send funds again; I will never again support equality for gays. This has turned my stomach to the point of no return. I will speak out against them every chance I get after finding out their tactics. My feeling now is that the whole lot of them are disgusting. Sorry, but that's my new stand and I'm sticking to it.

I never supported political agendas to block their equality but evidently politicians new something that I didn't.

Well, there ya go...apparently everyone in the world is gay and the heterosexual people are just lying to themselves.

Don't any of the people responsible for this crap get what they are doing. Is this some crusade of some sort?

There are so many more positive ways to get their message across.

Using people as whipping posts isn't the way to do it.

Taylor probably made a fatal mistake by denying it.

Silence is golden.

I guess PH is out to make everyone gay. Didn't this start on his blog? He is a vile creature. It would be too bad if he was fired from his TV spot.

No. The earliest record I could find was March 10, 2003, from BM's site, at which time be began to refer to Clay as "Gay Clay," and continues to this day.

The JP story also began first on BM's blog, then to Page Six, and then to PH's blog, all on the same day, Jan. 16, who actually posted a 2nd time a little over an hour later with the copyrighted nude pics from JP's BigMuscle profile.

PH, more than any other, carried the story until April 5th when JP began his own blog.

From the things I discovered, going from one blog to the next, some worse than others, is the blatant filth and promiscuity, the nudity and the orgies that exists among them. And I will be fair and say NOT ALL OF THEM. But it's like anything else: it takes all kinds, just like not all fans are crazy.
