Clay Aiken - gets his Christmas wish

Graphic by AmazingCA

Clay asked for help with UNICEF's fund drive for the children victimized by the flooding in Mexico. He got it. I had more fun watching the thermometer rise as the donations increased than I did watching the ball drop at midnight.

What a great way to end one year and welcome in another.

Happy New Year!!!

I agree. It was a lot of fun watching it and doing a daily count -- wondering if it would make it, figuring how much was needed each day. Clear up till Sunday thinking it might not happen as it wasn't always hitting that "$10,000 a day" thought of what was needed. I think a ton of Clay fans actually had fun "waiting" till yesterday to "pour it on" as the money started rolling in so fast and hard early in the day. Never fails that Clay inspires others to do what they can. They may not be able to make the trips with him, they may not be able to hold those precious little kids or sing to them, but they sure can support them and him in his quest to do good.

It really is a shame that more celebrities don't try to do some good for others considering all the good fortune that has come their way and that withtout the fans they would be nothings. That they are only interested in their own pockets and photo ops and "glamour trips" to exotic places, as opposed to trips to places in need, being willing to live in discomfort for days and not eat expensive meals, paying their own way to help others. Just shows who has character and who doesn't.

Yep, watching that thermometer RISE was way more fun than watching the ball DROP!!!

Way to go Claynation and all of the others who donated to UNICEF and more than met the goal they and Clay had set for themselves.

It feels every so good to be a fan of this wonderful man. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2008for us and ESPECIALLY FOR HIM!!!

As always, he deserves only the best and I hope the best is bestowed upon him beyond measure in this new year.

It was such fun watching the numbers yesterday. Thanks to all in the ClayNation and all in the rest of the world who accepted the challange and donated to such a good cause.

It is my wish that those who are trying to stop him from doing good will see the harm they are doing and turn their energy to a cause they can support. Look how much good can come from a sincere effort to help others.

It's a testament to Clay that so many responded to his challenge for the children victimized by the terrible flood. He is so respected by fans and others for all his good works. Those $$$ will be so helpful and truly make a difference.

Yesterday was so exciting watching those dollars pour in to UNICEF. What a great way to celebrate the New Year and help the Clay get his Christmas wish. I can't think of a more satisfing way to celebrate than to reach a goal and then go beyond. Merry Christmas Clay Aiken and Happy New Year Unicef.

What a great New Year's Eve, watching that thermometer rise as the minutes ticked closer to midnight, knowing that YES, we would make that goal....for Clay and the children of Mexico. Mr. Aiken certainly is an inspiration to many. My wish for 2008 is that others will follow his lead.

This was awesome. I didn't contribute till the last 2 days which is something I always do! I do wish the scope of the campaign would have broadened beyond the fandom, though. Still proud as can be to be a fan of this good man.

This was so exciting. Makes you wonder what the total will be when checks flow in thru the mail system.

He is an amazing man to put so much of his heart and time into something that he believes so much in.

AS with everything else since 2003, watching the UNICEF numbers go up all through the day, was exhillarating and exciting. Good work is being done. Good people are helping and a good man is the inspiration. Happy New Year, to all who go the extra mile and for showing love and respect for our guy and for this fandom and it's causes.
