Boggles the mind

It just boggles my mind that there are people who do not know me and yet they have set themselves up as judge and jury over what and who I like. They don't know what I look like, yet have decided I'm fat, old and ugly. They don't know anything about my personal life, yet have decided I am lonely. They know nothing about my faith or values, yet have decided that I am a right wing, homophobic, Christian conservative.
It truly boggles my mind.

Why aren't these people in some scientific study considering they are so all knowing. Surely those in the scientific community would love to investigate their supernatural powers and find some use for them that would benefit humankind. Then again, maybe they are not what they claim to be. Maybe they just like to hear themselves talk. Maybe they are trying to build themselves up by tearing others apart. Perhaps it's those in the psychological sector that should be investigating why it is that one person thinks they have the right to dictate what is good for another person. Last time I looked we had laws to protect the good of the community. Those laws were passed by majority vote.

So yeah, how I spend my free time and what I enjoy doing to me is no one's business. Guess I'm telling these know-it-alls to butt out.

The hypocrisy of it all Truth, they judge us for doing what we want to do, support a decent, kind hearted, talented 27 year old in our spare time and then they do what they want, make up crap about us and our part-time interest.

Sounds fair to me;)

This really is not about us, it is about them. They are weak minded and are wandering around trying to find something they can call their own.

I'm guessing very few of them have anything rewarding in their lives. There is no way they could and spew the hate and vulgarity on the blogs. No matter how "anonymous" the internet is, your personality still shows through. These people are angry, bitter and I would guess they've been hurt a time or two in their lives.

That, of course, is no justification for their particular form of hate. The internet has just given them a platform to show everyone how miserable they really are.

These people rationalize their behavior. I would guess they didn't feel accepted in school so having a voice in the radical haters group is the first time they've been "leaders" in their lives. Unfortunately, they are still just followers.

Too bad they can't find more positive ways to exert their unrealistic sense of power.

Those of us who have a good self-concept, are successful in our lives and have a rewarding life are the real leaders. Unfortunately, that makes them hate us even more.

They will always take the opposite view of everything because they think it makes them stand out in the crowd.

Yep, it does, but not in a good way.

Acutally this doesn't boggle my mind. People like you, oh crap, yeahthat and chexxxy are intelligent, outspoken and honest.

You speak for thousands of Clay fans and you scare the shit out of the haters. All 7 of them.

I don't think that "haters" are unique to Clay and the Clay fans.

If they hate him, so be it. I have no plans to try and get them to change their minds. Their opinions mean nothing to me. Who I like and support is no business of anyone but me and mine.

Bring on the CD. My credit card is loaded and ready to go!

It's amazing to see those haters natter on about Clay's poor values, mediocre voice and ineffective singing. Why don't they put something positive in their lives and find a singer they do like? Nobody is forcing them to fill their minds with thoughts of Clay Aiken 24/7. Leave him to us.

Very well said truth! My question would be how would they be able to support another singer when they are to busy bashing Clay and his fans 24/7!

I just wanted to share my feelings on this too. I have stopped worrying about the poison pen stories and the reason for the hate. I am convinced that through out history, there have been signs of this behavior whenever a person with undescribed power and charisma has taken the forefront. People who attract other people, attract the negative ones as well. It has only proved to me, that this seemingly nondescript southern man, has more influence and affect on people than anyone ever expected. Love and hate may be opposites, but their intensities are equal. All powerful, worthwhile people draw in both extremes.
This man was given a gift. That gift will be appreciated by many and despised as well. It's the controversy that comes with the gift. Thankfully, it was given to a man who was ready for the conflict and can handle it like the professional he is. The controversy is the very thing that catapults his name. I have come to accept that greatness will always be played out in this way. The negative people just do not realize how much they are helping to keep people interested and seeking him out.
Much of this has hurt us. Much of it has caused worry, but truth always wins and the negativity just helps to make people sit up and notice and in time, define the man in the way he was meant to be seen. All is good my friends.

I agree with Scorpio 110%. If the haters only put 1/2 the effort into promoting an artist they did like that they put into hating on Clay, who knows what could happen!

I've seen this sentiment expressed a lot and it's so true. It makes no sense to me at all to spend all your time and energy on hating one singer hoping that you'll impact their career negatively and thereby boost the career of another singer. It would make so much more sense to focus that energy on positively supporting the career of a singer you do like.

Take groucho for an example. He has spent the past three years viciously attacking both Clay and his fans, stirring up hatred amongst some Kelly fans for Clay. This caused a reaction whereby some Clay fans that liked Kelly at first turned against her. While it isn't right, there are some who put the blame on Kelly's entire fan base. No amount of logic will convince these people that the entire Kelly fan base is not to blame. On the other hand, there are Ruben and Kelly fans who are convinced that the entire Clay fan base should be categorized by a few vocal nut jobs.

It's unfortunate that there are some very narrow minded folks in all three fan groups.

Truth,

I honestly think it is the same people stirring up crap for Ruben, Kelly, and Clay. It leads back to the same people everytime.

I think as adults we need to appreciate and realize that Kelly, Ruben, and Clay can ALL have their individual careers and DO and that Clay can be allowed to have his own following. I have to agree 100% with the post earlier about if the haters would give 1% of their effort to support who they really like instead of the hateful comments and bashing nature then their person would be more successful. Unfortunately you cannot change the spots on a leopard, they want to be negative and we know who is the MAIN instigator. We can let others know who it is and ignore him (alias is Rick James).

For the positive,

Clay is about to release his new album and I would rather spend my efforts supporting him in every way.

Bring on the album!!

it seems like a never ending circle or circus. I'm also a Taylor Hicks fan and I belong to a few message boards, this morning I was doing some catching up and found out the rag papers are already claiming Taylor is gay, and also found a photoshopped picture of Taylor with a cigarette in his mouth saying not only does he smoke but he smokes pot too. Why do people have to be so freaking mean? do they not have a life of their own?

I have never in my entire life seen so much hatred as what I have seen in the past 6 months, it makes me sick to just try to read some of it.

If we could bottle all the hate that has been going on just in the past 6 months, folks I bet we could light up NYC.

I refuse to let it got to me anymore, I have a new album to look forwards to from a very amazing young men!!!

BTW...that young man can make this old gal get all googled eyed at times.

On Rate the Music this morning I read an article about a hate campaign directed at Fantasia during her season. I wasn't aware of that, but then since she's not one of my favorites I wasn't following her.

I hate the hatas and agree there must be something missing in their lives. In real life I refuse to associate with negative people because they only try to take you down with them. I'm not having what they're having. Those tinfoil posters are weird and sad.

I wouldn't be surprised if wc dude was involved with the Fantasia thing at all.

Shallow people put out mindless hate, how sad for them.

What is still the truth is, the more noise they make the more free publicity CA gets and the stupid and obvious they appear!

There is no bad publicity:)

I agree that the obsessive hatred these lowlifes have for Clay and his fans does "Boggle the Mind". I feel that it may boil down to just plain and simple ENVY-- taken to an extreme--a very SICK extreme.

I had heard the gay rumors about Taylor and just rolled my eyes and thought "oh God, here we go". I'm not a big Taylor fan but I don't have anything against him and I don't want anybody to have to go through the crap that's been spewed at Clay. All these people work hard, they all deserve a career and their fans deserve to like and enjoy who they like.
I just can't wrap my mind around the hater's. There are a ton of artists I just don't like, I don't buy their CDs, turn the channel when they come on and smile politely if a friend expresses undying love for them. Why ruin someone else's day if you don't particularly care for the same people. Geesh......just don't get it for a minute. Its like these haters have never progressed emotionally beyond 3rd grade.
Anyway.....bring on the CD!!!!!!!!!

I can just tell that several posters at the Tin Shed are still feeling it. There's buzz about the new CD (it is happening!), and the prospects of a new tour (it will happen!). One in particular threw it all away: all the love, joy, fun and good friends she had made, which had nothing to do with someone else's one-time bad experience. How does one bad encounter erase all the other great ones? But now, she's feeling the excitement, I know she is. I know her. We miss her.

I hope she knows she can come back and nothing will ever be said.

People sometimes can get eat-up in their own misery without seeing that there is ALWAYS two sides to any story. She/He needs to get over it and deal with that CA is a great guy and a wonderful entertainer and deal with the album coming!

I'm getting excited everytime I say the album part of it!!!

Polly,

I disagree with you there. Nothing will ever be said? I think your friend needs therapy, and pronto. She didn't just go over to the dark side, she was an active member, a contributor. I know I can't be as forgiving, but then she's not my friend.

Nothing will be said by people who don't know her, perhaps, but I would certainly hope that something would be said to her by her friends.

She has been spewing hate and crap for 7 months and it's all ok because she feels the excitement of the new CD.

Whoop-tee-doo. I am not a very forgiving person when it comes to the campaign that was waged against Clay.

Her friends deserve an explanation and an apology.

If we're talking about who I think we're talking about I have a few friends in common with her and they're all waiting to hear an explanation for what she's done. She actually bragged openly about what she'd done to "bring him down" and I doubt any explanation is going to suffice after the debacle of the past 7 months.
What she did borders on the criminal and if I set eyes on her at any Clay concert I'm going directly to security. I think Clay should have a restraining order served on her (among others). So sorry she's excited about the CD now. She should have thought about that before she started spewing her hatred against a wonderful man who has tried his best to be open and welcoming to his fan base. I'm sorry but if she thought she could do this and then say "oops" she is sadly mistaken.

Lana,

I agree with what you've said. She owes an apology and an explanation for her behavior the last 7 months. She has been part of a conspiracy to destroy the life and career of someone she feels rebuffed her, despite saying that he was nice to her. What does she expect? There were others at that M&G besides the 4 of them and some of them have come forward. Her behavior there left a lot to be desired and she's lucky Security didn't ask her to leave. Perhaps Clay's reaction to her was a result of her being loud, obnoxious and inebriated? I doubt she would ever admit to that. Additionally, there was a prima donna there expecting a marriage proposal. Clay considered both of them potential stalkers.

Polly, I know you care about her. She needs counseling on several issues, this being one of them. Don't let this slide as if it was a minor aberration on her part. She was actively aiding and abetting, as was at least one of the others.
